Goetta Recipe
We Have a lot German
influence This a breakfast
side dish like sausage or
bacon.
1lb. Beef
1lb. Pork
ground together.
6 cups water
2 1/2 cups Dorsel's
pinhead oatmeal
1 lg. Onion sliced
1to 4 bay leaves (optional)
3 teaspoon salt
a pinch of pepper.
Slow cooker method
Put water, salt and pepper in
cooker cover and cook on
high an 20 minutes
Stir in oatmeal, cover and
cook on high for 1 1/2 hours.
Add meat, onions, and bay
leaves mix well cover cook on
low 3 hours.
Uncover - if not thick enough
cook a little longer, stirring
often.
Pour into bread pans. When
cool, place in refrigerator.
Will keep for days.
When ready to use, slice the
loaf of goetta
and place into a heated pan
with a little bacon fat or
grease. fry to well browned.
GOOD FOR BREAKFAST.
